What is spinal adjustment?

Spinal adjustment, known as spinal manipulation, is a manual therapy that helps with reducing pain and improving range of motion.  It involves applying controlled and sudden force to specific joints in the spine and extremities in order to enhance the overall function of the targeted region.

What is the cracking sound from spinal adjustment?

The cracking or popping sound that often occurs during a spinal manipulation is known as cavitation. It is due to the rapid change in joint pressure that causes stress and gases to be released out from the joint space.

The goal of the spinal manipulation is to restore the joint function and reduce the pain of the region.
